What does this website try to achieve?

By the documentation of this project, we aim to support local authorities and organizations who promote the health of older people by focusing on exercising and a secure environment that stimulates and inspires physical activity.

This website offers interested parties a 'construction kit', from which various measures and strategies for action can be 'taken' (e.g. training measures for promotion of physical activity and prevention of falls, organization of a day of senior sports, or media and public relations). The details of the strategies and the cost are described and experiences are reported in a critical way. The experiences date from the local project "Schritt halten", which took place in Reutlingen (112,000 inhabitants). Schritt halten aimed to promote physical activity to older people and aimed to decrease their risk of falling.

Here you find a detailed overview of the project.

No municipality equals another, thus the positive outcome of a measure can be highly influenced by the local context. This being said, further examples are presented, based on those actually implemented during the project "Schritt halten".

"Schritt halten" was part of a project (Prevention and Rehabilitation of Osteoporotic Fractures in disadvantaged Populations – PROFinD), funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
